SCOPE Newsletter Summer 2025
A tool for teachers to use, a new knowledge clip on collective beliefs and new learning opportunities for teachers in fall 2025.
As we transition from the energy of spring into the deeper focus of summer, we're excited to share the latest developments from SCOPE.
Inaugural lecture: Recap and thanks
What a memorable day May 23rd turned out to be! Joke Fleer's inaugural lecture "Een pleidooi voor de verankering van persoonlijke en professionele ontwikkeling in het academisch onderwijs" was very inspiring and a special moment for us as a team. The Academy building of the University of Groningen was filled with engaged colleagues, students, and supporters who came to hear Joke's plea for embedding personal and professional development more deeply into academic education.
The response was positive and hopefully, this will lead to new connections and colloborations. For those who joined online, thank you for being part! We are currently working on making both the written text and video recording available online - these will be shared through our website and integrated into our upcoming handbook once ready.

Updates
Challenge your beliefs - An educational tool in the Transition Makers Toolbox
We are excited to announce that our tool for the Transition Makers Toolbox is now online! Challenge Your Beliefs addresses the Inner Development Goal of optimism and is available online for immediate use in an educational context.
This tool helps individuals examine their limiting beliefs, creating space for more constructive and helpful perspectives. It is designed to guide students and professionals through a process of questioning limiting beliefs while transforming it into a more helpful belief.
We have also started developing our second tool, which will focus on the IDG of Presence - exploring the topic of awareness and attention. More on that will follow later.
Access the tool through the Transition Makers Toolbox online.
New knowledge clip on Collective Beliefs
We have added another resource to our growing (visual) library on YouTube. Our latest knowledge clip explores collective beliefs and highlights the impact of collective beliefs implicitly transmitted within social systems. Like our previous clips, this educational resource is designed for multiple uses: classroom discussions, professional development, or personal reflection on the belief systems that influence personal and professional development. The clip will be used by us in a workshop on collective beliefs. Feel free to use the knowledge clip as you like. English subtitles are available.
Course on reflection for teachers: Fall registration is now open
Our course "Unlock Your Students' Potential: Learn to Teach Reflection Skills" is returning this fall! Registration is now open for educators who want to work on teaching reflective practice to their students.
This course has received valuable feedback from participants who have found it useful for both their own teaching approach and their students' learning outcomes. Whether you are new to reflection-based pedagogy or looking to deepen your existing practice, this course offers practical tools and theoretical foundations.
Ready to join us? Registration details are available on the University of Groningen website.
Spotlight: Developing education in personal and professional development
This month, we are highlighting an in-depth exploration by Jorrit on "Developing Education in Personal and Professional Development." This Substack post delves into the practical challenges and opportunities of integrating PPD into existing curricula. Rather than starting from scratch, Jorrit's work at Mondzorgkunde (Dental Hygiene) focuses on how he can thoughtfully weave personal and professional development into the educational program. The post offers valuable insights for educators, curriculum designers, and educational leaders who are working on integrating PPD themselves.
